high on dye

my first experiments in dyeing and spinning

i have inhaled so much kool-aid powder that i have rainbow snot. i will never drink it again, not that i did so often, but that is bad stuff. i dyed a ton of stuff at work, and spun it when i got home. so much fun. also, i saw some reviews that said that the babe wheel was not so great, it was so lightweight that it was hard to use. i think i will just get a kiwi or the louet cheapie. any opinions? i cannot wait. i have a sore hand from spinning. doesn’t stop me though. i am like the lance armstrong of spinning. i don’t care, i will survive.
it makes me so happy though. i haven’t been this exciteable since college. anyway, thank you yarn, for giving me my life back.
i spoke to jason h last night, he was saying that all of this has really consumed me, and i told him, for anyone that knew me 5 years ago, before i got together with he who sucks happiness out of all that are around him, i was constantly making stuff, nonstop. like this, and then when i started tattooing, it didn’t help. it sucked it out of me further. since i have been with jake, he is incredibly supportive of me, and anything i want to do. he is an amazing person. anyway, i hope it doesn’t put people off, all the art mania, but i am so happy. i can’t wait to get up in the morning. i am sad at night when i am too tired to focus anymore on anything.
in other news, i have ambrose’s shoulderette, maribel, at work waiting to be sent to her, to grace her soft milky shoulders…a client saw it and asked how she could get one, i told her i make them for friends and the occasional boutique she asked what it would cost, and i told her $80 and she asked if i could make her one. so i have to bring some yarn in for her to look at today. pretty cool huh? so i may keep a few things at work. terrie from dv8 asked if i wanted to sell anything there, and i guess maybe i should. i get a really strong response. i love it. cats, people, babies. especially cats. good for sleeping on and licking. and nesting on. if you have a high rent cat on your list.
so, i need to stop and pick up some more koolaid today, in some darker blues, the purples and burgandys were nice. it reminds me of the noro i have.
we lave on friday for vaca, so i am starting to get nervous. so much to do. tivo is not working, that is a whole different story, and we cannot deal with it until we get back. also, i need to figure out what projects i want to bring to the beach. there is a really good back in one of the old interweave knits i got for 1 buck at kathie’s. a big shoulder bag. and jason’s hat. no boring boutique scarves.
anyone who spins, let me know your wheel input!!

hey your yarn looks great! As for wheels, when I bought my Babe wheel it was used, and now after about a year of spinning (a lot) it is dead..I think i burned the motor out…So I ordered a new wheel the s17 Louet because it was all I could afford, but I am saving up for the country spinner, which is a bigger wheel and good for chunky yarns! My wheel should arrive tomorrow and I will let you know how I like it..

i know, when the yarn is outside it makes it look like i live in peru.

and heidi, it just doesn’t seem like a good deal to buy it for 170 buck, when for a hundy more i could get one that will actually last…i was told that the louet was really good for thick and thin yarn. at our snb next month, we have the spinning instructor for our lys. also, the yarn harlot will be in town june 6, its a monday if you are interested. you would be welcome to stay with me if you wanted to come…
