chick’n bonanza!

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

so, at long last, i am posting photos of the embroidery i am working on, even though after i rinsed out the stencil paper it kind of screwed it up. any embroidery people with suggestions for transferring your own detailed stencil onto fabric, please feel free to drop me a comment. i am not sure if i should be using some kind of backing, because the vintage linens are pretty thin, and if i should try the other stencil pencils that i have heard good things about that just iron on. i worry with the chalk ones that it won’t hold the detail well enough, and i am not sure with these ones that wash away if the thickness when it is washed away will always mess it up regardless of backing. that said…shpring embroiderychickngirlchicknboyit isn’t finished yet, but i find that i really love the way that the back looks. chickenboy back really amazing.

i packaged up orders and sent them all out, which always takes me forever, because i always wrap everything in tissue and put a card in and candy and little pressies, and it takes me forever. i am not very quick at much of anything.

after jake got home and we had eaten dinner, we went for a walk and of course i took the camera…door 522i am so hoping that this door wasn’t stripped to prep it for a new paint job, as opposed to just letting it be it’s gorgeous self. and i love the tennis shoes by the door. so pretty. all the spring flowers are out and gorgeous, sun shining…white tree 2just gorgeous. so so nice.

when we got home, peeps, the fluffy cat was meowing at me and going to the back door and meowing and looking at me and i thought that maybe she wanted to go out on her harness, so i got her saddled and ready and we sat outside and she ate grass, the only thing she likes to do out there, like a little billy goat. i took her in, although she didn’t want to go in, and put the harness on pavel, who won’t even let us put a collar on him, he goes totally nuts if you try to put one on, anyway, he let me put it on, not so happily, and i took him outside for a little while and he smelled everything and slunk around in the way cats do when they have a leash on. and peeps tried to run out when i opened the door. kahlo gets totally terrified outside, even though i know she would really like to go out, she has actually managed to run out of a harness before. not good.

i spun some really pretty yarns, cleaned up the studio a bit and started two small paintings, hopefully i can post photos of my progress, or finish them to-morrow. i was shocked to find out how cheap pre-stretched and primed canvases are and decided to use them. although, i would like to find some really little ones, but haven’t had much luck. i want to do some small ones in multiples, i am into multiples, like at least 3 per set.

i found out for sure from tanya from pittsburgh knit and bead that they will be closing in 8 weeks unless someone buys the shop. the shop does well, she just doesn’t want to do it anymore. she is there pretty much anytime they are open, and that wears you down fast. anyway, they will be having sales from now until then, so for those of you in the neighborhood, stop by. i am excited to get some eyelashy fluttery cheap stuff that i like to spin into my yarns. they have great stuff there. and tanya is a wonderful lady. she was the first shop to have my yarns in there, and i was not nearly as good as i am now. i was not good. put it that way. and she was incredibly fair with me. she took a really small percentage, because she said she liked to support local artists and have unique things in her shop. she gave me my own section. and another local shop gave her a really rude offer for her shop, less than the price of the fixtures and the stock, which is all she is asking. rude!

i plan to card up some batts for luxe to-morrow, and maybe do some dyeing. i ordered some new dyes today that are in some of the gorgeous pastels that i had been having a difficult time achieving, soft pinks and greens, etc. so expect some super gorgeous things! i am very excited myself. also, i will be getting some superwash merino roving in, so superwash yarns and fiber for you guys to play around with. it is amazing and spins itself, so for you drop spindles, or newbies, it is soooo nice and smooth. that is the kind of fiber i can spin without looking. oooh yeah! my hands are smarter than my brain is anyway.

for any of you sock knitters out there, heather is doing a survey for school and needs as much input as possible, so go and check it out…and you can win sock yarn, too!

i am going to try to catch up on blogs a bit and try to sleep.
smoochies,

monday monday

Monday, April 17th, 2006

i had a migraine/spell of the queasies last night and woke up around 3:30p. yup. and i was supposed to hang out with amy today, my phone rang a bunch of times and i didn’t even hear it. so. i still feel pretty funky, in addition to my stomach still being churny. i ate kix today. only kix. and i got sick. so.

obviously, i didn’t do so much today, as i was sleeping, but i have been still obsessively working on the embroidered piece, pics to-morrow, i swear it.
start of the chicken boy embroidery

also i got a halcyon yarn catalog in the mail which looks like a fine art magazine, amazing. actually it is 2 catalogs, one all knitting stuff one spinning and weaving, etc. wooot!

nothing else, just going to catch up on blogs and then work on the embroidery and hopefully sleep at some point to-night.

smoochies,
n.

a bit of a luxe update….

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

i added more batts molly batt to the luxe site this afternoon, as well as some really pretty skeins, brokey dokey, like that one that was dyed by none other than shannon okey and her talented pal heather brack(whose blog info i cannot find at the mo)…remember, i raved about the fiber a while ago? purdy! i have more that need to be skeined and photo’d. so pretty! check em out.

also, i got a lot done on my embroidered piece, the photos were really bad, so i will put some up to-morrow. i really like how it is coming out. also, i bought acrylic paint for the paintings i have planned, have the canvases and ephemera and drawings and more. so as soon as the time presents itself…i hope to have it done by the end of the week.

one of my best customers, angie, sent me a care package…how sweet is that? including some yarn she dyed herself, and may spun herself? some nice smelling stuff some cute postcards, a nice card, super duper sweet! thanks ang!

what else did i get in the mail? well…i did a trade with ashley where we each made something that we ourselves would want. i feel like i got the way better deal! i feel guilty! this bag the whole she-bag! is so gorgeous! and i got these matching hair pins…
be-adorn.com so much detail, so meticulous, and i did that girl thing where as soon as you get a new purse, you put all your stuff in it…and it is comfy and holds a ton of stuff and is not a black hole purse. you know the kind where you put stuff in it and can never find it ever again? not like that at all. i lurve it. lurve!!!

and! i ran across this amazing site where i bought among other things, this…bookhou.com for so cheap it is ridiculous…anyway, there was tons and tons of stuff i wanted from them…like this…bookhou.comand emailed asking if they wanted to do a trade, because then i don’t need to feel guilty that i spent money i don’t have…and i think everytime i ask anyone that they will say no, why? i dunno, no one says no, ok, once someone that made super expensive stuff said no, but anyway, she said yes!! we are hammering out the details now, but i am so excited! and i ordered the kitty pillow, an owl pillow and a bird teeny pillow. sooo cute.

yesterday we were supposed to meet my in-laws for lunch, but i had the night of intestinal gymnastics, and didn’t sleep, so i stayed home, waking up at 3p, which i think i told you already. last night, i did some work, and then amy and butta came out and we hung out, i ate a baked potato and nothing bad happened other than some churning in my stomach. i had my first coffee in days this afternoon. oh senseo, i missed you so. i also got these adorable turtle underpants underpants at old navy. let me tell you something about old navy….their clothes are crappy for the most part, although i like their pajama pants, although can pj pants go all that wrong? but their girl’s underwear are not only super super cute but really comfy and wear really well. i have cowboy ones from there. frogs, kitties, hearts, stripes, plaid, seasonal, of course. very cute. also, the kiss my face stuff that they sell there, they also sell it at health food stores, but they have different flavors, my husband loves their lip balms, especially the white chocolate orange. i am not a lip balmer, more of a lipsticker…and i put some on, ate a potato and drank a soda and still had lip balm on. but it isn’t heavy, but it stays on. what? i got him a white chocolate/orange soy candle on sale there, and it smells yummy on the warmer.

also, i got a bunch of patterns in the mail from amy butler super cute. i really am going to learn to sew. who will teach me? who? anyway, whilst checking out her site, i found these adorable free patterns she has including a kitty pillow! so go check it out. she is so sweet! i am curious what she thinks of the yarn i sent.

also, i was approached by a new yarn boutique opening in july in atlanta about carrying my stuff, so that was very flattering and i really hope it works out. i am still waiting to see what purlsoho says…eeeeeek!

i think that is about it, loads of new photos in the flickr, so go check it out if you have a moment.

smoooochies…

i think i’m gonna barf!

Friday, April 14th, 2006

i woke up at 3p. i went to sleep late, but not that late. jesus. then, we ordered dinner, i felt a bit funky, so i didn’t feel like going out. we ate, we went to the bookstore…where i got the new issue of fiber arts magazine
which i didn’t really get a chance to read…more on that in a bit…and cloth paper scissors, no link? well, the site is utter poo that only lets you see the cover of the magazine. whatever. anyway, i am always into the strange super labor intensive techniques in there, so i cannot resist buying it…anyway, whilst looking at the craft books, i felt a bit hot…about 2 minutes later, my stomach started to feel funny and i started to sweat. that strange sweating that hits you all of a sudden. by the time we got to the checkout, i had to give my card to jake and bolt to the bathroom, all the way across the store, fearing that i would barf on a customer. i made it, doing the closest thing to running that i do. seriously, i don’t run. it isn’t a good sight. boobs flopping about in a way they were not meant to move. once i felt that my stomach was stable enough to move, we went home, and amy left at like 7 p on a friday night. i felt like an ass. and then i hung out in the bathroom for a while and felt a bit better. embroidered for a while. and i am hungry. afraid to eat. but very hungry. and then, my face started to burn. it feels like a have a really bad sunburn. i don’t.

the embroidery i am working on looks really good so far, i will take photos to-morrow of everything, i swear it. i have so many things to photograph. i also plan to card up more fiber, because it appears that most of it is gone from the site. so i will make sure to let you know when i add it, so you can get it before it is gone.

and on the embroidery issue, i was having problems figuring out how to transfer the stencil onto the fabric…i got a transfer pencil, which sucked and just gave me a vague smudgy outline. at the fabric store, there in the quilting section is stencil paper that you stitch through and it rinses off. i haven’t rinsed anything yet, but it was easy to work with and the stencil was nice and bold, and you can run the paper through the printer if you want to. so i will likely stick with this paper unless it doesn’t rinse.

ok. serious stuff. my friend who i stopped talking to due to the drama, i just found out that she has gigantic cysts on her ovaries and has to have a hysterectomy. at 36 years old. she doesn’t want kids, but…so she will be off her feet for 2 months, i am sure you all know the drill, and i had always told her, and felt in my heart, that if she ever really needed me, i would be there. and i think she needs me. but i don’t know how to go about this. how do i reach out to her, without being totally sucked back in. and she is “dating” this dude that is literally the epitome of dreg of humanity. disgusting, stupid, druggie, smelly, dirty, prison record, you name it. and she is dating him. things have not gotten better with her. and i can’t tell her it is ok. she will push me until i bitch at her, and i don’t want to do that. i don’t know what to do. you can’t step in as needed and then step right back out. advice? please?

ok, stomach feeling funny again, i knew that warm 7up was a mistake.
off i go.
i would give you smoochies, but…

new spinning fibers at luxefibre.com!

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

i slept about 4 hours last night. once i woke up and the sun was shining, and i had to get up.

i was feeling smily all day, until i accidentally saw the local news, about someone who deserted her dogs cats and ferrets, locking them in her trailer after she moved 3 weeks ago, when a neighbor called because the dogs were barking and found the animules, dehydrated and some starved to death. if they catch her, the penalty for starving a countless animules to death for no reason is as much as $750 bucks or 3 months in jail. somehow, the penalty for graffitti or driving without insurance is much more severe. so fucking evil. if you treat animules like that, how do you think you would treat a child, old person…anyone. some states have a bit stiffer punishments for animal cruelty, but i guess it just baffles me that our society seems to think that pets are equal to toys. do whatever you want with them or to them, if they are yours, or actually, even someone else’s. no big deal. and then i think of it being one of my cats and it kills me. i imagine that the surviving dogs, cats and ferrets will be adopted after being on tv. poor babies.

and i just heard on the news like 20 minutes later (ok, i am changing the channel, i left it on out of sheer laziness) that in california, ANOTHER cat was found shot with an arrow, but alive. in CA, if the person is found, they will be fined 20,000 bucks and face up to 5 years in prison. that is more like it. at least assholes will think twice because they don’t want to go to jail. and be shot full of arrows like st sebastion by cats…

also, some poor people won the powerball! can you believe it! good for them. and i hope they move far away and don’t tell anyone so it doesn’t ruin their lives.

on the happier side, i am sending a big big order to kpixie so that is super duper cool. and i added some handpainted fiber and some really pretty batts for spinning, as well as a few more sock yarns to the luxe store as well as some stuff added to the luxe.etsy.com store. so check em out.

i am working on some embroidered vintage linens…which i am super excited about, although i have been having nothing but trouble trying to transfer the images to the fabric. the tranfer pencils i bought are utter poop. unless you were doing an incredibly simple pattern, it is a total waste of the 2 bucks that it cost. poo! i also got some stuff meant for quilting that you draw your pattern on, can stitch through and then it washes away, so that seems like the best option for the moment, if that doesn’t work well, dharma trading, the best company in the universe (i always talk to ernest, who seems to know how to do everything related to art and sounds like he should be a dj on npr), carries some tranfer pencil and paper that is the same as the one i used, but is rumored to actually work. piece of crap! i actually made a trip to get that stupid pencil. what else did i get? netting to make a felted thing of some sort, mod podge…which has awesome packaging…in glossy of course. i am just not into matte anymore, chocolate necco wafers for jake…ew!…some cheap fabric from the bin, plate hangers for all the cool plates i need to hang up around our sparse, undecorated house…and then my studio has stuff on every square inch of wall and floor.

i sat outside and cut and stripped sequins strands for spinning, for a while and then did photos and got a sunburn out there! and my nose hurts. yay! spring!

jake and i went for a walk around the neighborhood and…nuts!april 13, 2006and…april 13, 2006ah spring!

also, i got some stuff in the mail, which i will take photos of and post to-morrow most likely. and ashley b! you rock!!! and, you are cute! too much to bear!

smoochies,
n.

mm mm good!

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

the day was gorgeous. i had a hard time sleeping last night, and spun for a while at about 3 am, i think until i got sleepy. it works well though. i guess it is the rythmic nature of things. i packed up orders and stuff for trades that was long-time owing and ashley has some fiber and extra fiber coming her way because well…i am sooo excited for my purse! and i hope she likes the yarn. i always worry. but i sent her a good one. and an extra one.

after running errands, i popped in to my favorite local antique store, ufo, and picked up some awesome stuff for super cheap, because the owner, eddie is really nice to me, cause well…i buy the odd stuff that no one else around here buys. what did i get? well…look what i baked!this cake plate and dome. rocks! i put it on the dining room table. it is so pretty. you can go to my flickr account to see what else i got…also, our local curtain and bedspread shop, the lily shop, closed after many years, and ufo has all of their old curtains still in the packages, many from the 50′s…they are super cheap and are cool fabrics, if anyone wants me to pick anything up for them, please let me know. also, they have all of their trims…and i mean pom-poms and all kinds of crazy stuff, again, pretty cheap, let me know if you are looking for anything and i can pick it up for you. and then photos…and then, whilst talking on the phone, did a cleanup in the studio which had become…impassable. literally. i got my old 3 in 1 printer from the shop hooked up and inked and inlarged and copied stuff that i wanted to work into embroideries or paintings. i dunno how to use photoshop, so i love this printer, because i can just blow things up and photocopy things. it shakes when it prints. poor thing. it has been used and used and has held up really well. at the shop, it was used all day long, for years, and still works well. also, i bought some freezer paper in sheets from dharma, i think and i plan to use that to iron on stencils for whatever i embroider. i am excited to try it out.

it has been threatening to rain all day, which is fine, because i loooove the smell and sound of rain, especially at night. jake always tries to get me to close the windows so that the sills don’t get wet, but i love the sound, love the smell, don’t want to close them. have i meantioned that i love spring? everything is so vibrant, so intense. i feel like everything looks sharper, smells better…it is 10:30 p and i am going to do more stuff. crazy!

edit* i should have referred to alden amos before giving people bogus info. how embarrassing. i tend to use the word “roving” to describe most prepped fiber from a mill that is commercially prepped, which is incorrect…adrian left this comment, with the correct info:

What you described as roving is actually called combed top. Roving has been carded and the fibers go in all different directions. Combed top has all the fibers going in the same direction and is very common. Roving is usually bought from small farms and mills. Combed top is used to produce worsted yarn (smooth and dense) and roving to produce woollen (the fibers going in all different directions trap air and make a warmer, lighter yarn). You can manipulate the fiber to produce different types of yarn, say, but spinning from the fold, but those are the general rules.

i want to answer lisa’s question about what is roving and what would she do with it…this is prepared wool top that has been dyed…by the way, i will be putting this up on the luxe website if anyone is interested. i will probably spin some up so ya know what it will look like. i know it looks like a strange color combo, but the crazy ones always come out the best…april 12, 2006 roving for example…this molly's first date roving spun into thism1d3
there is such a thing as pencil roving, which is thin roving that can actually be knit as as and is similar to lopi, or bulky lamb’s pride. otherwise, you would need a drop spindle or a spinning wheel to spin yarn, although, you can make felted items with roving, or even loose fiber, as well, and you don’t need to knit it. how cool is that?

i stopped at the health food store, really hungry, so i got nothing but snacks. ah well. i saw a friend that works there that asked me what i was doing now, and when i told her about the spinning, she got all excited and said she wanted to learn how to do it, and wrote down my number. so cute. she has a baby voice, but is really tall and thin like a model. anyway, i am always surprised at how many people are interested in spinning.

i will be adding some more sock yarns darkbubblicious! sock yarn to the luxe site, and they are purdy…send me some color combos that you would like to see…

off to spin…
xo,
n.

did you go check out my new yarns yet?

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

i dyed a bunch of fiber today all in one pan, a million different colors. i know it makes more sense to do big batches of single colors, but it is boring. and i have enough for now. and the multicolored ones are way more fun to spin. fun is important. it makes me spin more. i plan to put some of this roving up, as well. i also did four skeins of new sock yarn, really pretty. photos to-morrow, most likely.

so, updated the site and the dyeing and i think that was all. so nice outside. so freakin’ nice. the cats all lie in the open windows, kahlo especially likes the kitchen window, or on the kitchen floor in the rectangle of sunlight. with her hairless belly exposed. too cute.

rumor has it that the new spunmag comes out to-morrow. eeeek! and knitty all in one week? what?

my mind…empty.

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

well. i got a good bit done today, spinning, skeining, photos, sketching and went to staples to get a new ink cartridge for the 3 in 1 copier thingy, so i can do some work for the mixed media things i am working on. i hope to have some preliminary photos to-morrow for you to look at. all of the yarns i made came out really pretty,
this superwash sock yarn, that resembles the amazing bright sky today,
april 10
or thissy here one…a SINGLE punk rock princess
april 10
and this one april 10 is this i would rather dye! roving spun up, with sparklies and sequins. so purdy, no? i will be adding everything to www.luxefibre.com to-morrow. so check back. the site has been super busy, so that is fantastic. snap em up whilst you can! and please let me know if there is a product you would like to see and if there is anything about the website that is wonky, or whatever…please! and leave me comments. it has been dry in the comment department lately, and i have a counter so i know you are reading it. or at least coming by and not reading it.

there are so many different things i want to do that i am frustrated, although, attempting to write everything down so i don’t forget. like project spectrum, for example. i forget what the color should be and to do it at all, so i will start writing stuff down so i remember. because i really do want to participate. i think it is an amazing idea, and i LOVE color. i would date it, even. or http://selfportraittuesday.blogspot.com which i forget about and forget to see what the theme is, and then i get mad at myself. so, all of april is april’s fool, so being silly, so i will post a silly photo i guess, to-morrow. if i don’t forget by then. and loads of other stuff i want to do but cannot remember. oh…fiber friday on livejournal, which i do late every damn time, except this frieday. i want to keep some sort of a schedule and not just be doing things randomly as i think of them. it is a bit hard not to do work as the mood strikes you…there are days that i need to take photos and list stuff…like to-morrow, and today, when i want to do dyeing, or spinning, or work on a…gasp! painting. and i have to remember that this is a job, and i can’t just do whatever the hell i want all the time. but my memory is bad, so generally if i cannot blogline it, or get some sort of reminder, i will totally forget. like my secret pals…i don’t remember which are their blogs, i think, although i have them bloglined. and they were super awesome, except for one…and it is NOT ursula, who was getting her doctorate i think and was so busy that we didn’t get to communicate much and she didn’t post photos. i then realized that i may have not posted photos from my secret pal either…why? i have my head up my arse. i am getting increasingly less able to remember to do things, and art things float around in my noggin, i am in the space…but i can’t be there all the time…i need to get other things done, in a certain order, as well. like normal people. rant!

the new knitty is out, very swanky, just popped by briefly…and shannon posted in the spin knitty section a how to dye yarn or fiber in the dishwasher. so make sure, unless you like sterilized sheep water on your plates, to NOT use your dishwasher for other porposes as well. i use the stove and the oven. if i had a ginormous stove with multi burners, that i could put an enormous roaster on, i would probably do it stove top steaming. but who knows. i spun up some gorgeous fiber that heather GAVE me, please send me the link to post to you, and i am a totally fiber snob, i like mine better than any prepared stuff from somewhere else, because it doesn’t look like mine, but hers…gorgeous and a pleasure to spin. so wonderful. mmmmm. it was like eating tiramisu. that good. oh, tiramisu, where art thou?

also, the new domino came today, which is really cool, and has some great ideas in it. the downstairs of the house is so blah that we, well, i don’t tend to hang out in the living room much. and our kitchen is functional but not pretty. our appliances are pretty. anyway, i think i have some ideas for painting, and we have stairs that need to be painted, which i think may just get done. i think it will be pretty. i need to start scouting for some big cabinets at the thrift/vintage stores for the kitchen to hide some of my art mess. jake would like that. it is everyhwere. totally out of control. craziness.

ok. tired. i won’t sleep, but super tired. so i will lay my head down and sleep so i can get a lot mroe done to-morrow.

all you newbies…leave a comment and say hi! do it!

smoochies,

i would rather dye!
Originally uploaded by natashafialkov.

what did i do today, in a word? nothing. in two? not much. i conked out early last night, woke up with a funky upper left side back muscle and a funky GI tract. the whole thing. i worked on a bobbly scarf, which looks vulgar to me. like big teets. teeeets. but i got an idea for a new kind of stitch that would hang off of the knitting in strips, like an unattached bobble. also, i want to try some shibori with thrift store sweaters. i have been meaning to for ages.

i got a shoutout from my girl, er, lady, regina on whipup.net, in a really cool article about being able to knit and crochet, and i guess really being able to do whatever needs to be done…sew, draw, whatever…which i think is really important. not to do everything, but to be open to try new things, i try to push myself, even if it is something i am scared of. except learning to ride a bike. i don’t know how, and you all know that i have spent my entire life protecting my hands, and avoiding physical things that may harm them. and then, there is the self-fulfilling prophecy of doing something you feared doing and the thing you feared happening. make sense? so i would have to splint my hands. it would be like the gift of the magii or something. not really. on this track, i realize how i have let myself get into a bit of a rut. i love the comfortable feeling of just putting my head down and working, know what i need to do, and just making it over and over again. i like that. of course, i like to mix it up, but it is fairly mindless. i need to push myself to do more fine art things, i know it is what i am supposed to do. i let myself be lazy, and it has to change. lest i burnout. as i have said. and said. and…said.

and the new knitty came out and i have an ad in there in the covet section, so hopefully that will generate some payola. to buy stuff. and pay bills. it works out well, to have it, and not that well to not have it. you know?

to-morrow, in addition to taking photos of yarn and updating the luxe, i plan to do some dyeing, i am mad for dyeing lately. it is so damn fun. so i have a ton of silk yarn, ok several pounds, so i am going to pop them in the washer to soak overnight. they take a while to get fully wet.

i realized that the battlestar gallacticas that i have tivo’d are the second part of the second season, so i can’t watch any. and it is killing me. does blockbuster have such a thing? do they? huh? i never go to that place. they do bad things to movies. chopping.

so, a really uneventful weekend, yet a lot happened in the blogosphere…odd.

oh, also, jake is dropping of a resume at work for a new position and is very nervous about it. so send good vibes his way. although, he is so cute, who could not want to hire him?

smooches,
n.

amy butler? what what?

so, one of my best friends, butta, has an aunt named amy. butler. he told me i should email her about my yarn, because she knits. she does other stuff too, do you know what? anyway, i sent her an email telling her i can send her some samples, if she would like to check em out. she said she would like to send me some patterns and stuff, because i am taking a sewing lesson, so i can use the machine that the lovely karrisa gave me, whom i owe some yarn to. i think i owe it all around. i may be put in yarn debtor’s prison. it is likely. anyway! she is friends with the owner of purl soho, who by the way is opening a quilt shop, too…who she thought would be very interested in carrying the yarns. so. and she wants to add my link to her site. huh? what? and though she is not a blood relly to butta, but rather by marriage, the butta part showed through. and, she is super busy, so likes quick knits, and if anyone has used my art yarns, they do all the work for you and look amazing, so i think she may become quickly addicted. and like the cigarette companies, that is just what we like. can you tell i am reading thank you for smoking? so. woot. woot. wooooooooooot!!!

also, whilst reading interweave crochet last night, i noticed in the internet column some stuff about crocheted sculpture…i thought, wow, monster crochet would be perfect for this article…and then…she is mentioned! and scary eyeballs make their first ever apearance in interweave!!! and hopefully not their last. i think that regina, being the knitting and crochet GENIUS that she is (and i mean that in every sense of the word), she should start submitting patterns, cause they would get in. you know how they said that michaelangela would look at a piece of marble and see the body trapped within and free it? she sees the vegetable liberation army trapped within the acrylic red heart and frees them…all of them…to make our lives richer, packed full of vitamins and whatever bioengineering that makes them have eyeballs, which makes me think of oryx and crake, which is one of my most favorite books ever. it is so good that i sometimes think about the charactars and wonder what they are doing. seriously. and then i think, oh yeah, a book. not real. i knew that. but what are they up to? anyone? anyone? ok, so…i went over to her blog, and thought that even though regina HAD to know that she would be in there, she maybe was a bit late in posting it…what did i see? stuff about her trip to ireland…wooot wooot! and the guinness museum being a rip off…and ok, maybe right here it will say…under the update section, right? noooo! so, not only one of my biggest rolemodels, that could make a lifesized scultpure of corn out of spaghetti, or peas, or anything, but in the top ten least braggy people in the universe. after R2D2, who can’t talk, at all. just beeps. sooooo yay for regina!!

what else? spun a lot yesterday. a lot. 153 everything butand my back hurts a lot today. i am so lame. so. lame. but some really pretty stuff, including some pink and black, anyone?

so if i seemed braggy, sorry, but it is my blog, and i will cry, brag, bitch, whatever, if i want to. and you will like it, yeah?

smoochies,
n.
