haywire centennial
long time no talky. sorry about that. on friday, we went to supper with my in-laws, and i went to joann’s with my coupon and got a wide waterpen. i am addicted. let me tell you. although the wider one is a bit unwieldy. i did not buy anything else, except swedish fish that jake threw in. sweet tooth, that one.
saturday, i was planning to drop off a boutique order, but she was out of town, so i will probably do it to-morrow or wednesday. i was supposed to go to an oktoberfest party for one of jake’s co-workers, but i got a case of the nerves. bad. i hate meeting new people. in general. even when it is people i really want to meet. my stomach turns. not cool. so jake went without me and didn’t even get pissed. i even got all dressed up and made up and ready to go.
sunday, got groceries, and felt wretched all day. i felt funny from friday onwards. not well. not sure what the deal was. i feel okay, but i haven’t been eating very much. i haven’t gotten much work done, although i have knitted up some of the roving i dyed…
purdy, eh? knitting on size 15 circs. what else? well, how about some inky drawerings? this flower is not a real one (to my knowledge, anyway) it is a bit tulipy but not really. i used pen and then my waterbrush. of course.
something else? this alien plant. i am really into bulbs for whatever reason. if anyone has some suggestions for botanical drawing books, or rather drawings of plants, let me know.
i am packing up some big orders and then i hope to list some stuff. soon. i swear. and if i owe you for a swap, it is coming. i wrote everything down so that i won’t flake on anything. i had an order to a client that never arrived, and realized that i wrote the zip wrong. love the number jumble that goes on in my head. i wrote an “S” instead of a “2″ i think. which would translate to a “5″ i imagine. which is not the same as 2, at all. sigh. so, i sent another, although the post office told me it would probably still get there, or come back. i annoy myself a lot.
oh, also, i was looking at some of the new contacts i have on flickr, and happened upon (through a chain of clicks i cannot quite remember) a bunch of foot fetish rings. and transvestite ones with super gross comments and pics that anyone can see. actually, the comments are gross, the pictures…just kind of sad. anyway, where is this going? i know that flickr will boot your ass off for linking to your website that sells your stuff, or for showing photos of artwork rather than just photos of your puppy, or whatever, yet there is some kind of…well…po&^%nographic chatter going on that anyone could read. i just thought it was odd. i guess photos of squished nuts is not as offensive as a collage. or an abstract painting. or yarn. and you know, i don’t really care, although i think you should probably confine your p$$rn chat to a group that anyone can’t read, no? i feel like a priss. it was a bit gross. somehow, i imagined flickr to be kind of a clean place. who knew?
last, anyone watched dexter? we watched it the other night and it was really good. my only complaint is that so far, his sister is an annoying and stupid charactar. for those that don’t have showtime, it is about a vigilante serial killer that only kills bad people=serial killers. and it is david from six feet under. pretty good. and it is strange to see him not be weird david, too.
we watched thank you for smoking which was hilarious. i read the book, although i can’t find it for jake to read, which makes me wonder if i got it from the library or what. maybe amy got it for me from the library? i swear i read it. i swear. and it was funny. anyway, i recommmend it. funny.
i also watched fever pitch, the american version. i watched the brit version a while ago and i think i liked it better. jimmy fallen gets a bit cloying. the same shtick all the time. his “cute” thing is a bit annoying. anyway, it was cute. the main character in the brit version was a real arsehole, whereas in the american one, not that much. just immature.
what else? i watched the island which has ewan macgregor in it and a few humorous motorcycle comments (he travelled from london to america on a bike. seriously. it is a cool series called long way round) anyway, it started out super cool and then just…action. lots of action. and i am not into action movies so much. it is based on an aldous huxley novel by the same name, which i bet ends a bit differently. i hope so, anyway. it really started out interesting, though. ah well.
ok. nuff said.

both the necky thing and the flowers are pretty (looks like poppies to me - the flowers, not the necky thing), and very complementary to boot. xo long-live pink!

I LOVE DEXTER! I mean, seriously love that show! We get an HBO package with our cable, and are going to cancel it so we can pick up Showtime instead, just for Dexter (ok, and because the show coming up called “Sleeper Cell” looks really good, too!) Never watched Six Feet Under, so I don’t know the lead in Dexter from Adam, but if he was as good on Six Feet as he is on Dexter, I’m totally going to try to catch it on DVD.
Very pretty knitting with the roving. I haven’t tried knitting with roving yet. Oh, and I have 2 skeins I spun up using your batts mixed with roving, and they look great! Gotta send you pics! Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better than you were!

amanda, i emailed you back some other shows i think you will dig, but yeah, it was really good so far. i have been watching brotherhood on showtime which is one of the most violent shows i have ever seen, but really really go stories. and 6 feet under is fantastic, make sure you start at the beginning of the dvds. i watched it from when it started. so. good.
as for roving knitting…fun! it would probably be really good for those into felting. you could use big big roving if you wanted to. i use about a 15 needle.
i cannot wait to see the batts knitted up!

watch for an email either today or tomorrow, depending on how work goes today.
other thoughts…
i didn’t know that you weren’t allowed to link to sites where you sell your stuff! but i felt the same way about flickr. i came from the site fotki.com and it was FULL of porn and when i made the move over to this site i thought it was porn free. i was sad to find it wasn’t at all.
i don’t know whats wrong with you, natasha. i’d much rather look at smashed male genitalia then some… ugh… painting. haha especially if the genitals in question have some crude comment that i can’t even type out here.

I can deal with most weirdness, or at least understand how it could appeal to other but foot fetish stuff just grosses me out! It is the worst to be watching some sort of “adult entertainment” which is going fine and then have it have some weird foot fetish interlude. EW! Yeah …
I’ve only seen bits of Thank You For Smoking, but it seemed really funny.

nichole i agree! it makes me feel funny. and not in a good way.

jess, i didn’t know it happened that often. hm. i guess it is better than random peeing or something. i have nicer feet than any of those girls and i will need to make sure never to post them. for any reason, lest they fall into the wrong hands. ew. makes me feel dirty. i worked with a guy that told us that he had sex with some girl’s feet on a date and he couldn’t figure out why she never called him again. poor girl. she probably wears 3 pairs of socks at a time now.
you people just leave my pretty feet alone! back! back!

i am so dying to see dexter and i’m still hot for jimmy fallon even after seeing fever pitch. i had no idea there was a brit version. can i just say, if i haven’t already, you never cease to amaze me with your polytalentedness? that colorway is delicious and i’m so digging the alien bulbs. that is a really interesting and lovely technique.

sean, it is really good. again, other than the annoying sister. i hope i don’t focus on it. oops too late. i have that problem sometime. i liked the other fever pitch better, plus, like all of his books, it is based in the 80’s so the music is good. (it is a nick hornby book, the guy that did high fidelity, an all time fave)
and listen, can we just be siblings? my brothers are rather unimpressed with me, although i am not sure that have any idea what i can and can’t do (read, do math, drive a car) i think that we click much better as bro and sis. so, twins, or just related, what say you? i mean there is a difference in age, but i look younger, plus, what would anyone say, anyway? so, talk to your mom about it. xo

The flowers are gorgeous…as were the previous ones you did in that style (flowers and feather that had a ferny look). They remind me of dahlias or maybe water lilies/lotus blossoms, rising up above the leaves on the surface of a pond. The one with the bulb attached looks a bit like saffron crocus or other fall blooming crocus (C. sativa), which are in flower in my garden now.
I love botanical prints…will look at my stash and horticulture books for some names for you to look up for inspiration.

i have been having loads of fun drawing the flowers!

carrie, that would be fantastic. i could draw you something in exchange, is there a favorite flower or plant you have?
that is cool that they actually resemble something.
