oh-my-grainey…

well, as you all know, i overdid it a lot this weekend and early this week. so by yesterday, exhausted. last night i read an entire book, cover to cover. mind you, it wasn’t war and peace or anything, but still. so i had read an email from shannon about how she got an intern and then i dreamed about having an intern that cleaned my house and packed orders and went to the post office. although, i could have an intern, right? anyway, i woke up feeling funky and tired and by this evening, i was really really nauseous and headachy. sigh. that said, i feel guilty that i was too tired to blog in the last couple of days, but i can’t see straight, so i just wanted to let you know i was alive, if not feeling so great. blah. i will d a real post to-morrow. i swear it. double vision. pukey. hot. clammy. hold. only one eye open, i think. i can see my eyelashes.

wish me luck. i am on shower number 4 for the day. sigh.

oh, i got my first package from my knitting secret pal. i guess the last one, too. i got this yarn…which is gorgeous, but i don’t do socks in fingering…sp9
and this lovely yarn that i adore, i wish i had more of it…sp9 gift
i had to contact the wonderful sp9 hostesses because she never contacted me and i thought i had been forgotten. i got the package with her card in it (she has a yarn shop) in a plastic bag and that was it. so i guess it was the reveal. anyway, i guess i was disappointed that she didn’t have the time to do a bit more, even to wrap it in tissue or something. most of these secret swaps i have done of late have been a bit of a letdown, although the people i have sent stuff to have been really fantastic and excited (or feigned it well, anyway) i try really hard to get them stuff that i think they will like. i really read their questionaire. my sp9 was going through really hard times with a sick baby and other stuff, and she is a young one, too, so i wanted to make sure that when she got it, it was really great. and thus far, i have had incredible people spoiling me. seriously. thoughtful, sweet, sent me notes and little things and cards and emails. so i have been really lucky. my spin me a treasure pal knew who i was because she reads my blog! and she french! i am famous! (in my own house, anyway) but she sent me a photo of herself and the hat she had made and it was a really similar color of the yarn that i made her. i also sent her some “american stuff” reeses pb cups and sour patch kids. i know it isn’t yummy like euro candy, but it is american. she said it “tasted american” which cracked me up. anyway, i wanted to post photos of the lovely yarn i got from my secret pal, and i did.

also, here is a mixed media piece i am working on for the open heart show that was due in…um, saturday. last saturday. i just am not happy with it. i love the part separately, but due to my issues with seeing the whole picture i have a hard time sometimes with finsihing up. anyway, barbe suggested putting the little boxes on a plain background of some sort, which i had thought of, before i did this background, so i need to dig aorund and see what i have that might work so i can get it in to gabe.
open heart please let me know if you have any suggestions about it. nothing is attached yet and i have multiple versions of it on flickr with things moved around.

i have a lot to tell you but i am sleepy and out of it, so i apologize if anything seems nonsensical. i have to go to sleep and try to sleep this off. grrrrr. miles to go before i sleep. i swear, i need to make a list i have so many things to tell you…

I personally really like the mixed media piece. Maybe all it needs is a splash of vibrant pink or red? I really love your art, though, so I’m biased. :)

As for the secret pal thing, I had a pretty horrible experience during the last round that kept me from participating this time. I think you responded to an entry I wrote about it. Anyway, I actually googled my secret pal’s name afterwards because she gave her identity away from the start and found out she has ditched on many other swaps. (I’m really not as creepy as that last sentence makes me sound).

She had sent me an acrylic handknit scarf that she admitted to have had sitting in the bottom of her closet for two years because it was one of her first projects and it was crooked skewed. She also sent some busted up DPN’s. And that was it. I only got one email from her ever. Luckily, I was assigned a wonderful angel at the very end that made things better. If you have a good hostess, she might try to work something out for you to make your experience better.

I know what a generous person you are. I bought a batt from you a few months back, and you included not only candy but another batt that was even heavier than the one I ordered! You are so fabulous!

Awww. The same thing happened to me twice with Secret Pal. And I put a lot of thought in my swaps and spent more than required. I didn’t expect someone to do the same for me, but I surely didn’t expect to be completely forgotten. Now I’m just too scared to do anymore swaps.

kat, i have a new background for it, i will probably (hopefully) have it done to-morrow…

i hope you reported that secret shitehead. that is so wrong. so. wrong. i had one that wouldn’t email me to let me know she got the stuff, and then lied and said she was out of town, even though she had blogged and was in town. dur!

i try to put extras in, especially if it is someone i know. but i think when you pay for high end stuff, you should get fancy treatment. you know? you, you are so fabulous!

lelah, it seems like everyone says that! i think that swaps with people you know are the way to go. what is the point of the secret part of it, really? someone you know should know your taste better and be more likely to make you something you like, ya know?

I hope I didn’t get reported this time for SP9. I did send my pal nice things, but I was not very attentive…depression does strange things. I’ve had some really terrific SP’s (I participated in 6 7 8 and 9)and I loved my sockapalooza socks. I think I’m done though, I’ve become the worst procrastinator on the planet ….

    jamye, amen!

cheryl, first, you would have been reported! for sure! second, being slow and not emailing everyday is not the same as never letting your person know that you are alive, and thinking of them, planning their thing or whatever. you are a goofball!

i love the way it looks! The collage is really great! Try some gold ,silver or bronze along an edge, it makes things pop, like your beautiful yarns!!!

angelique…it actually has a lot of copper and gold on it already, around the edges and on the textured parts. it doesn’t show up well, though. i ended up going a totally different way and not using that part with the boxes. i took bad photos because it was dark, i will post em soon…
