and then again, maybe i won’t.
welp, i have been shamelessly lazy lately. okay, well not lazy in doing art stuff, but lazy in doing fiber stuff and luxe stuff and blog stuff. bad bad me. i put off checking email until the end of the day, lazy, lazy me. what have i been working on? well, lots of sketchy things leading up to a few mixed media things with wax medium which i really like working with. i found an article about diego rivera working with wax medium in his murals and the exact recipe! what? yeah! right here!
this first one is over top of a journal page from a while ago with notes to myself. being the cheapest woman alive, i used it anyway. it is pen and ink and guache. mmmm. guache. if you haven’t ever used it, it is basically like watercolor with some acrylic put in so it is more solid, unless you water it down. really fun. and a little bit goes a looooong way.
this one is ooooold paper from a few different places, with guache and watercolor stain, on canvas with wax medium and acrylic, guache and irridescent jacquard pigment powders. it is much prettier in person. jake really likes it, but i might sell it. i did another one slightly different on watercolor board, also, today. not quite done yet. once the first one cures, i will polish the wax. wooo hooo!
i finished one of my fingerless gloves in the pretty handspun and altered the pattern a bit and it works a bit better. i will post it shortly.
i am pooped, off i go to veg a bit.

Wow. I was just thinking how much I liked the first picture…when I scrolled down and saw the second! I love the colours (of course) but also the feeling of depth you have created in it. Awesome Natasha!

stephanie, thanks! i will probably be selling some of the paintings, the wax will take a little while to cure and then it will be like varnish, it has varnish and some other things in it, so i can actually shine it up and it will be sealed. cool, eh? i have made a few, i keep dreaming about them for some reason. like a horror movie.

Vou deixar meu e-mail, derrepente eu melhoro meu ingles e assim poderemos dialogar.
Até mais.

Natasha-
Vincent is Portuguese, and he is complimenting you. Rough translation:
It forgives not to write in its lingua, my English is very bad and it would not know to make to understand me for the written form. But it is my adimiração for your work here, I adored your optics, the way as the colors if they mix is magico. Parabens, I adored exactly. It would like to see more. I go to leave my email, derrepente I improve my English and thus we will be able to dialogue. Until more.
(Thats a Babel Fish translation so it’s hairy.)
Hope that helps!

I love the wax. They are fantastic. I especially love that it’s over an old journal page. Moving stuff.

thanks angela! i run out of pages and then just go over little notes. i have actual journal entries that i don’t do that with, but it will be a list of stuff to buy, or a to do list, so i just go right over. i actually cut up notes and things for paintings, too. i am the most frugal person ever. except maybe my granny.
