meet sonny, my 4th amiguri:

sonny the owl
clearly, he needed to be linted. sigh. story of my life. anyway, he is not yet finished, i am not sure what to add to him. i was going to give him yarmulke, but it didn’t look right, so i didn’t. hm. i also wanted to give him wire legs so he could stand up, but without a whole internal skeleton, i duno how i would do that. nothing can just be simple with me. ever.

i woke up EARLY this morning, 6ish, i think and felt much better, peppy, almost. i got my orders packed, went to joan’s to buy some safety eyes for amiguri, although ms barbe gave me the option of ordering eyes from a supply place for taxidermists, there are some cool ones. i ordered a catalog. it might be interesting to use with the amiguri. i got some cool yarns that i think would work well for it that were on sale, and i got some new crochet hooks on sale. they are the kind of actual hook that i like best that have a really nice deep head on them. clover hooks have a wonderful handle, but the hook is blund and not very…hooked. grrr. here is the yarn i got: softie haul from joann;s! woot!

i got this super cute postcard/invitation to my good friends john and diana’s baby’s 1st birthday party. being that it is on the opposite coast, i don’t think we can go, i wish we could though. i cannot believe she is a year old!mayumi's first birthday party postcard!

i would love to get some kind of something done today that isn’t packing orders or grocery shopping, but i am falling asleep on my feet. sheesh. we had an insane thunderstorm here and the rain washed away the insane heat. ooooh i love the rain in the summer, it just smellllllls wonderful. i love it. i would love to sleep in a screened-in porch or something. amazing.

okay, too sleepy.
mwah. mwah. mwah.

Natasha - I love these amiguris. I find that I look forward to hearing the story of each one. You are one very creative woman. For the skeletal system - what about something from the hardware store? I’m thinking bendable styrofoam that is used to insulate pipes maybe? It would add structure without weight or hardness. But then I could have dreamed that such a thing exists. Thanks again for the help with the hemp yarn.

donna, i am looking forward to seeing you soon! missed ya sweets!

vickie, thanks so much! once i finish up sonny and give him his props, i will give him a story, but it hasn’t come to me yet.

as for the frame, that is a good idea, i haven’t seen it, but i can probably bend a frame up out of wire. i should have planned it ahead of time so he could have it inside before he was stuffed. it would be great to have a frame in the wings, too. even pipecleaners might work. hm. and you or welcome about the yarn. i hope i actually helped…
