dye another day…

despite a headache again today, i did some more dyeing. i did a more limited palette than i had planned, so i did some other colors today and i hope to do a bit more to-morrow and get some batts done.
i actually used up a huge (kitchen can sized bag) of uncarded coated merino, just gorgeous soft, heavenly stuff. wowza. i actually want to get some more i love it so well for both carding and spinning. i used up more than a pound of locks, a few different kinds, some loose mohair, some sparkly nylon and some superwash top. some for spinning as is, some for carding. i talked to my buddy katrina today about dyeing, whilst dyeing (one track mind, eh?) and was saying how amazing it is how different fibers in the same dye pot grab the color so differently. i will post more photos to-morrow.
sorry for the boring posts lately. boring is as boring does, i guess:)

I went to a really cool yarn shop in Austin with my mom this past weekend. I thought of you and told people about my beautiful handmade pieces you have made!

Those cats look like they have been married too long. The one of the right is definately feeling the seven year itch

The only boring posts are the blogs where the latest post was made month ago..:) Cute kitties..I miss having a pet..sort of. I grew up with cats and our Iguana died a few months before my son was born. I guess my son is sort of our pet now.. I guess that’s not a politically correct thing to say..haha. Still thinking about your collaborative suggestions. like the idea of using shadow boxes!

aw, thanks ash, that is so sweet! i thought that my ears were buring:) what was the shop called?
zeeps, it is more like two grade school kids, she is the lil squirt that follows him around and bugs him all the time. he secretly likes it.
christine, i used to blog every single day. now sometimes i don’t blog for a week. i agree with you, if i see that someone doesn’t blog regularly, i don’t bother reading it. i can see a kid as a pet. our pets are our kids:)
i found a bunch of info about an air dry ceramic clay that you can buy or make and it is supposed to be really easy to work with, very strong, you can add pigment into the actually clay, or acrylic paint, or sparkle, ot whatever, plus you can paint it, etc. i am going to whip up a batch of it. i can send you the link if you are interested. it seems like it might be just perfect for dolls and their acoutrements! i would love the dolls to come with their own little environment. when i was a little, i would have peed my pants! little knitted gear would rock, too and are easy to make. little shrugs or cardigans…or legwarmers? hats? oooh the possibilities. a little closet for them? a little vanity with a mirror? ooh lala!
